Kanika Dhillon has become one of the most polarising writers in Hindi cinema, known for presenting fascinating ideas that sometimes lose momentum by the end. Her latest film, Do Patti, starring Kriti Sanon and Kajol, is no exception. This romantic thriller dives into the lives of twin sisters, Saumya and Shailee, and a toxic marriage that sets the stage for a gripping family drama. Kriti Sanon’s portrayal of both sisters, one innocent, the other manipulative, standsout, adding depth to a story filled with sibling rivalry and strained relationships.

While Do Patti starts strong, its flaws become evident. Abrupt editing and out-of-place stylistic choices break the film’s flow. Kajol’s character, a local cop with an inconsistent accent and rushed backstory, doesn’t quite hit the mark. The overused twin-swap trope feels predictable and dilutes the tension.

Ultimately, Do Patti captivates in parts but loses steam when it shifts focus to courtroom drama and tacks on a social message. Much like some of Kanika’s previous films, it’s an intriguing premise that just falls short of greatness.
