BJP leader and Minister for Information, Technology, and Cultural Works Ashish Shelar recently participated in a special seminar titled 'Global Maharashtra Agenda 2030', organized by the Democratic Marathi news channel. In an exclusive interview with Vishal Patil, Executive Editor of Democratic Marathi, Shelar discussed Maharashtra’s roadmap for development, technological advancement, and cultural preservation. He elaborated on key decisions made during his tenure and the significant milestones achieved within the first 100 days of governance.
Vision for Maharashtra’s Growth and Development
Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the philosophy of 'Virasat and Vikas' (Heritage and Development) to shape Maharashtra’s progress. Mr. MLA Ashish Shelar reinforced this vision, highlighting the balance between cultural heritage and modern technological advancements to propel the state towards becoming a global leader by 2030.
One of the key initiatives is the adoption of e-file and paperless governance, which will enhance transparency and efficiency across government departments. This system ensures streamlined decision-making and enables the Chief Minister’s Office to evaluate departmental progress in real time.
Cultural Policy and Preservation of Folk Arts
Maharashtra is set to implement a comprehensive Cultural Policy that will focus on promoting and preserving folk arts, folk instruments, music, drama, Marathi cinema, and film city projects. Mr. MLA Ashish Shelar underscored the importance of folk traditions, stating,
“The one who forgets history has no future, and the one who remains ignorant in technology fails to expand his knowledge.”
This statement reflects the government's commitment to revitalizing folk traditions while embracing technological advancements. The initiative will ensure that folk art thrives and is protected against decline, allowing new artists to actively engage in and learn these cultural forms.
Technology, Innovation, and Workforce Development
MLA sir stressed the necessity of new technology and innovative methods to meet evolving economic and industrial demands. He emphasized the role of artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, and smart governance in shaping Maharashtra’s future. A landmark achievement in this domain is Maharashtra becoming the first state in India to establish JA-I University, an AI Center for Excellence. This initiative aims to equip the youth with skills that match global technological standards and workforce requirements.
He also highlighted that technological progress leads to economic progress, ensuring Maharashtra stays ahead in India's digital revolution. With new methods of work emerging, manpower will be adapted to meet these growing requirements, reinforcing Maharashtra’s position as an industrial and IT powerhouse.
Conclusion: A Roadmap for the Future
The Global Maharashtra Agenda 2030 outlines a strategic vision that integrates cultural preservation, technological innovation, transparent governance, and workforce transformation. Mr. Ashish Shelar’s insights reflect the state's commitment to sustainable growth, ensuring that Maharashtra remains at the forefront of India’s development journey. Through a synergized approach to tradition and technology, Maharashtra is paving the way towards a future that respects its rich heritage while embracing the opportunities of a digital world.
