The much-anticipated trailer of Chhaava, an Indian Hindi-language historical action film based on the life of the Maratha king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, was unveiled in a grand event. Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, the movie stars Vicky Kaushal as the iconic Maratha warrior, alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna. The film is an adaptation of Shivaji Sawant’s acclaimed Marathi novel Chhava.
The event commenced with the introduction of the cast, followed by a heartfelt tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In a symbolic gesture of respect, director Laxman Utekar, producer Dinesh Vijan, Vicky Kaushal, and Rashmika Mandanna were seen bowing at the ceremony. Rashmika, who portrays Maharani Yesubai, gracefully participated despite limping from injuries sustained during the film's demanding shoot.
The trailer screening was followed by a press conference where the lead actors, director, and producer shared insights into the making of this ambitious project. Vicky Kaushal revealed his dedication to portraying Sambhaji Maharaj, which involved gaining 25 kilograms and undergoing seven months of intense preparation, including horse riding and sword fighting.
Director Laxman Utekar emphasized his approach to immersing the cast in their roles by addressing Vicky and Rashmika as “Raje” and “Maharani” throughout the shoot. He praised Rashmika’s expressive eyes, stating they perfectly embodied the grace and strength of a queen, even though she hails from South India. Vicky’s performance as Sambhaji Maharaj was described as lion-like in speech, demeanor, and appearance.
The event also highlighted the film’s stellar music, composed by the legendary A.R. Rahman, which adds depth to the narrative.
With its extraordinary cast, meticulous preparation, and a blend of cinematic brilliance and historical authenticity, Chhaava promises to live up to the high expectations surrounding it. The team’s dedication and talent ensure this film will be a grand tribute to the legacy of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
