Updated: Mar 8

Mumbai, a city where culture, art, and high society converge, witnessed yet another spectacular evening of sophistication, conversation, and artistic brilliance. On a balmy evening, amidst the refined elegance of Milaaya—Gayatri Khanna’s impeccably curated South Bombay gallery—art consultant and luxury columnist Nisha JamVwal orchestrated an unforgettable wine sundowner that seamlessly blended the city’s crème de la crème with haute cuisine, avant-garde art, and a dose of her signature warmth and charm.

This was not just an event—it was a celebration of creativity, intellect, and camaraderie, a reflection of Mumbai’s ever-evolving cultural ethos. The city’s power players—corporate head honchos, consul generals, legal luminaries, top-tier architects, advertising doyens, and formidable women achievers—came together, reveling in an evening that stretched well beyond expectations, all captivated by JamVwal’s impeccable hospitality and personal touch.

A Gathering of Mumbai’s Cultural & Business Elite As dusk turned into an electric evening, the guest list read like a who’s who of Mumbai’s influential circles. UK High Commissioner Harjinder Kang and his wife Kam lent an air of international diplomacy to the affair, alongside the much-admired Consul Generals Kobbi Shoshani, Don Donnawit, Kenko, and Shirani Ariyarathne. Advertising titan Sunil Alag, celebrated author Nandita Puri, and master mentalist Deepak Rao added layers of intellect and intrigue to the soirée.

The presence of the lovely Piloo Tata, art impresario Gopika Dahanukar, celebrity chef Shipra, corporate leader Anand Jain, and renowned architect Anil Salian underscored the diversity of Mumbai’s high society. Luxury interior designer Aakif Habib, filmmaker Tanuj Garg, Finland school headmistress Anna Hart, and legal luminary activist lawyer Abha Singh added further depth to the already eclectic mix. Amitabh Singh, Chief Post Master General Maharashtra Circle, was also among the distinguished attendees, further enriching the evening’s dynamic guest list. And, of course, philanthropist Dr. Manju Lodha, a formidable force in social activism, completed the distinguished ensemble. Adding an extra touch of grace to the evening was Shashi Bansal, the elegant and insightful mother of Nisha JamVwal, whose poise and wisdom were a delight to all who had the pleasure of conversing with her. Sushil Mistry a well know interior designer even graced this event. A Groundbreaking Art Showcase Beyond the dazzling guest list, what truly set the evening apart was the first-of-its-kind art presentation at Millaya. Masterpieces by contemporary luminaries Nikhil Chopra, Ranbir Kaleka, Manjunath Kamath, and Shaurya Kumar were displayed in a novel artistic medium—embroidered works of art, masterfully crafted by Gayatri Khanna’s Atelier. A confluence of heritage craftsmanship and modern expression, the collection was a revelation, offering a fresh perspective on India’s artistic landscape.

JamVwal, known for her passion for art and her keen eye for talent, spoke about her collaboration with Gayatri Khanna—whom she affectionately refers to as “Gaya”—highlighting the synergy between their vision and this innovative showcase. In turn, Gayatri shared the inspiration behind her groundbreaking embroidered pieces, a fusion of textile artistry and contemporary visual storytelling.

The Magic of Conversations & Timeless HospitalityWhile the art was mesmerizing and the wine flowed freely, what made the evening truly unforgettable were the conversations. The air buzzed with stimulating discussions—on design, technology, diplomacy, and the future of Mumbai’s high society. But amidst all the heady dialogue, the unexpected highlight of the night was none other than Bluebelle, Nisha JamVwal’s charismatic mother. With her vivacious personality and effortless wit, she held court, engaging guests in deep, insightful discussions on topics ranging from art and philanthropy to global politics and the evolution of Mumbai’s luxury landscape.

It was a rare delight to engage with someone so effortlessly erudite, and as the evening stretched into the early hours, it became clear—this was an event that Mumbai’s cultural elite would not forget anytime soon. A toast to art, visionaries, and the timeless charm of an evening curated to perfection by Nisha JamVwal.
